Extensive experience in the building industry

Property Care Association Qualified Technician

This qualification underpins the CSTDB qualification (Certified Surveyor of Timber and Damp in Buildings) and demonstrates a practical understanding of property preservation and remedial treatments.

As a skilled tradesperson and qualified technician, I have practical experience in carrying out remedial work to address damp and timber issues. This firsthand knowledge of repair and restoration processes is reflected in my recommendations for addressing identified problems and providing a realistic understanding of the associated costs and timelines.

Hands-on experience in property renovation and construction

Providing an in-depth understanding of building structures, materials, and construction methods through practical engagement and application.

Certified surveyor of building heat loss, energy efficiency and PAS 2035 Retrofit Assessments

This expertise enables me to assess thermal performance and identify areas of heat loss within a building, such as cold spots or thermal bridges which can be related to damp issues, and provide recommendations for improving the thermal performance of the property.

Qualified plumbing engineer

This can aid in identifying plumbing-related issues that may contribute to damp problems, as well as assessing the overall condition of a property's building services, such as drainage and water supply systems.

In cases where  internal air quality is poor, a contributing factor may be the type of heating system installed. In these cases, I am able to advise on a suitable replacement system as opposed to simply stating that the system requires updating.

Air-flow engineer/specialist

Understanding the importance of air-flow dynamics and cross-flow ventilation within a property is crucial for identifying and addressing ventilation issues that can lead to internal damp and mould problems, so this experience is valuable in accurately diagnosing and providing solutions for such issues.

In summary, the combination of these diverse skill sets equips me with unique and practical insights that enhance my underlying training. First-hand experience working with mechanical ventilation and building materials, understanding their properties and how they interact with moisture, allows me to provide effective remedial solutions for my clients.
